Yacht seascapes have been a big feature of my work. I regularly exhibit around Australian including the Great Ocean Road and tropical North Queensland.
It was exciting to have one of my small yacht works auctioned at Hamilton Island, above its market value, with the following comment :
"What I loved about 'I saw three ships' was the energy and colour that you captured, with no attempt at realism. I found it powerful yet relaxing"
In painting yachts and the ocean, I have the ideal subjects for my spontaneous style. The ocean in all its moods, colours, and light and yachts with their colourful spinnakers and movement.
Hamilton Island is a mecca for yacht racing hosting the annual Audi Race Week and now boasts a beautiful new Yacht Club. It is the home of the famous yacht "Wild Oats" winning the Australian Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race five years in a row. I love the colours of the island and its tropical lifestyle.
I like to challenge myself every time I create a new work: what colour do I like today and how does this colour work with other colours? What are the yachts doing? Is there a thrilling race or just bright sunny sailing?
I use high quality artists’ acrylics and if requested, a high shine medium known as Liquid Glass as a finish coat. This medium is tough and durable being originally developed for housing interiors. All my canvases are professionally stretched with staple free sides – no need for framing. Just ready to hang upon delivery.
Commissions are welcome. Please email me to discuss your intended painting. Perhaps you have a photograph of your own yacht you’d like painted, or a seascape of your favourite place.
Buying direct from the Artist saves a lot of money because there is no gallery commission fee. I use PAYPAL and PAYMATE for secure online payments allowing you to pay by credit or debit card.
Firstly, I create a watercolour sketch for your consideration. Once you the buyer approve it, a 50% deposit is payable to start the work. Allow 3 – 4 weeks for me to complete the painting. The balance is then paid just prior to delivery.
If your canvas is painted with acrylics and no liquid glass, I can roll the work and post it in a sturdy cardboard tube. Freight is included in the commission price. If you wish to have liquid glass on the painting surface, I will freight the work flat. Freight is extra for Liquid Glass paintings and I can give you an instant quote.
Original art can give great pleasure. If you can look at my paintings and feel uplifted, then I’ve succeeded in conveying the fun I’ve had creating them.
